Bridging faith, education, and clinical care

Guided by Dr. Ernestine S. Lacy, DDS, MA, we bring accessible oral healthcare and preventive education to vulnerable communities throughout North Texas.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission: To improve quality of life by providing compassionate oral health education, preventive health screenings, and community care initiatives to individuals in need. Our Vision: Healthy, disease-free smiles for all individuals, regardless of income, geographic location, or insurance status.

Dental Health Ministries is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization located in Red Oak, Texas. Guided by renowned dental educator Dr. Ernestine S. Lacy, DDS, MA — a prominent dental educator and former associate dean at the Texas A&M College of Dentistry — the ministry bridges faith, education, and clinical practice to bring accessible oral healthcare and preventive education to vulnerable populations throughout North Texas. By partnering with local churches, civic organizations, and academic institutions, we deliver oral health screenings, preventive education, hygiene resources, and targeted clinical care to eliminate health disparities in underrepresented communities.

History & Core Focus Areas

Dental Health Ministries was established to address persistent oral health gaps in rural and suburban North Texas, where low-income families and uninsured individuals often lack access to routine dental care. Drawing upon decades of leadership in dental education and community health, the ministry was organized to serve as a mobile, compassionate care platform. Since its inception, we have organized community health fairs, distributed oral hygiene supplies, and conducted free preventive screenings across Ellis, Dallas, and surrounding counties, empowering individuals through education and early intervention.

Preventive Oral Health Education. We conduct interactive workshops and school visits focused on proper brushing, flossing, nutrition, and early detection of oral health diseases.

Community Wellness & Screening Clinics. We organize mobile screening events in partnership with community health fairs and local churches to identify dental decay, gum disease, and oral health risks early.

Hygiene Supply Distribution. We supply essential oral hygiene kits — including toothbrushing supplies, toothpaste, and dental floss — to low-income families and shelter residents.

Dental Career Mentorship & Pipeline Outreach. We support and mentor aspiring dental students and hygiene candidates, fostering diversity in healthcare and encouraging service in dentally underserved communities.

Governance & Stewardship

Responsible Financial Management. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, Dental Health Ministries upholds rigorous financial accounting standards, ensuring that donor gifts and grants directly fund community health programs and patient care supplies.

Faith & Academic Strategic Synergies. Our unique position at the intersection of dental academia, public health, and faith communities enables us to mobilize volunteer practitioners and clinical resources efficiently.

Sustainable Community Wellness. By placing heavy emphasis on prevention and oral health literacy, our programs reduce reliance on hospital emergency rooms for preventable dental pain.
